Gray salt is well-known in Europe, it can be said by way of example, that it is produced in France in the old Guerande salt pans, on the island of Ré, and on the island of Noirmoutier, all located on the Atlantic coast.

The Boyeruca salt flats are among the oldest in Chile, and have historically been the most important in production. The uniqueness of Boyeruca salt is due to the fact that it is obtained exclusively from the waters of the Pacific Ocean and fresh water does not intervene in its artisanal production process.
